On moving to Cornwall 30 years ago, Huw and Sally owned and ran the Trengilly Wartha Inn, Constantine, which is where Huw’s passion for keeping pigs and producing top quality sausages began and the famous “Trengilly sausage” was created. Since that time, the couple opened Merrivale Charcuterie, a delicatessen in Truro, selling the sausages, hams, salami and bacon. In 1991, Huw’s garlic and herb sausage won the Guardian Newspapers’s first ‘Sausage Quest’ competition and their range of products also earned a coveted entry in Henrietta Green’s ‘Food Lovers Guide to Britain’ as the ‘Best Sausages’.

Now at Rowan Barn, Huw has introduced pigs with free range conditions which all reflects in the quality of the sausages and bacon that the barn has available for that perfect English breakfast - to which The couple have won an award.
